In this workshop we’ll explore how to design tattoos directly on the skin! Drawing on the body instead of using a stencil can be a great way to make a design that works well on the specific body of your client; following the muscles and the curves of their body.
Some topics that will be covered in the workshop are; how to build up your drawing, composition, what materials, tools and techniques to use, and how to preserve your design. We’ll also be looking at the work of some great queer tattoo artists for more inspiration!
The workshop consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the last part of the workshop you’ll have the possibility to experiment with materials and techniques on each other. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite tools. Wear comfy & dark clothing for this part of the workshop!
This workshop will mainly focus on abstract tattooing and is suitable for both beginner tattooers as more experienced artists who want to use more freehand techniques in their practice.
About the artist:
Cee Burgundy (they/them) has 9 years of tattooing experience. They make tattoos with a lot of texture, contrast and movement. One thing Cee loves about freehand tattooing is the collaborative aspect; since the design is drawn directly on the client, the artist can be in constant conversation with them about the possibilities and their preferences. Getting tattooed can give a great sense of agency over your body and for Cee that's a really valuable part of tattooing.
